Your remodeling project should make your home exactly what you want.
You’ve decided to select Don Jason Remodeling to help you complete your project. At that point, you meet with Don to sign a Professional Services Agreement, and he and Bruce take detailed measurements and pictures of the project area. The Professional Services Agreement places your project in our schedule and commits you to using the plans we develop together only with us. The fee is generally between $1,000 and $3,000 depending on the size and scope of the project. This fee counts toward the remodeling contract once the design is complete.
The first goal of the Design Process is to create a floor plan (where to place walls, doors, windows, etc.). Don and Bruce take the measurements and develop options for your project in line with your ideas, budget, and goals. These options are presented to you in a meeting at our office where we use a projector to show you 2D and 3D views that help you picture and understand the proposed changes.
Once the basic floor plan is selected, we meet again to fine tune plumbing, electrical, and cabinet details (where outlets, lights, switches, sinks, showers, toilets, and cabinets are placed). From that we develop a list of the items that you need to select in order to complete the design.
Our vendors contact you to schedule appointments for making selections for your plumbing, electrical, cabinet, and flooring materials. They receive from us a list of the items you need to select with them and help you narrow your options to products that work well and match your tastes and desires.
We also schedule site visits with our subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, and heating and air conditioning as needed. This visit allows all of us to understand exactly what their portion of the work will be and any special considerations needed to complete the project.
We’ve chosen our vendors and subcontractors on the basis of their excellent service to us over multiple projects. Each of them does what they say they will do and works hard to take care of any issues that may arise in the course of your project.
The design process moves along at your pace. As you make decisions, we move on to the next step. At each step, we get closer to an exact price for your project by replacing our guess with the actual quote for the selections or subcontractor portion of the work. At the end of the design, we present you with a price for the project to the dollar. The only way the price will change is if you reduce or expand the project. With your approval of the price, we prepare the remodeling contract that lists everything included in the project.
