Question: Are remodeling contractors required to pass a test in order to receive their contractor’s licenses?
Answer: When I started my company I did have to pass a test to get my licenses in some of the cities. Currently most cities now in our local area don’t require contractors to take a test. Each jurisdiction has certain requirements that you must comply with. Usually you are required to prove that you have a certain number of years of experience or education equivalent. You must also provide references and proof of insurance. That’s why it’s important to check out your contractor to be sure he has the ability to complete your project in a professional manner.
