Question: I plan on doing a remodeling project and have already bought some of the materials. Most of the contractors I have called do not want to do the project because I have these materials. Why is this?
Answer: I can only speak for my company. We like to supply the materials so that we can buy them from our suppliers who we trust and with whom we have an established relationship. This way if there are any problems with the materials, we have swift corrective service. We also buy products that we know are of high quality and seldom arrive with defective or missing components. If the home owner supplies the materials, we sometimes get parts that are not complete or of an inferior quality and thus more difficult to install. If one of the parts is defective, we have no idea how long it will take to get a replacement part which could hold up the project for an undetermined amount of time. There are many contractors so I’m sure you will be able to find one willing to use your materials. Good luck and may your project come out beautiful.
