Question: When I remodel my home I will not be able to recover my investment because of the downturn in the housing market. What are some ideas that could encourage me to remodel in spite of this fact?
Answer: I personally built my home to fit my needs and desires. Twenty five years later I totally remodeled every room. In both instances I made my home fit the needs of my family. I was in the location where I wanted to live and I added the amenities that my family desired. This was more important to me than resale value. Now I am in a new stage of my life and I don’t need the same things I did when my children were at home. This time I bought the home which fits my desires and needs at this stage in my life. I used common sense and bought in a location that works best for me. I couldn’t be happier. I will enjoy each day in my home because it is something I love, not something I bought so that I could sell it easily. I believe we should enjoy the blessings each day of our life brings. Hope this perspective can add some balance to your thoughts.
