Question: I want to replace the interior trim on the windows in my house. The casing doesn’t seem to match any of the styles that I see at the local lumber yards. What are my options?
Answer: There are specialty shops which can make trim to match almost any style. If you remove a piece of the existing trim and take it to one of these shops, they can develop a blade which will make the replacement trim to the exact specifications of your existing trim. They can also help you determine the species of wood. You will also need to take a sample of your existing trim with a sample of the new wood to your paint store. They will be able to come up with a reasonable match in color and type of finish.
Good luck and enjoy your remodeling project.
