Question: I want to finish my basement and would like to know what finishes you use for the basement ceiling.
Answer: We usually finish the basement ceilings with a combination of drywall and suspended ceiling tiles. We usually use the drywall to cover the areas where the beams and the heat ducts are under the floor joists. This keeps the ceiling as high as possible in these areas which are already low. We use the suspended ceiling for the balance of the ceiling. This allows for the removal of these tiles if there is reason to access mechanicals in the future for additions or repairs.
